A Japanese coastal ship-mounted gun is emplaced at the base of
Mount Suribachi on Iwo To Japan. Two days preceding the battle of Iwo
Jima a Japanese crew fired a similar gun at an approaching U.S. ship
causing a chain reaction of preemptive strikes. This gave away the
positions of several other defensive positions leading to the early
destruction of about a dozen similar guns. (U.S. Air Force photo by

When will the Belgian army change that cammo pattern and move towards a
modern less consipicuous one? Sometimes I think that uniform's more
fitting for an African army as those guys tend to be too much 'original'
in their choice of cammo.

Maybe the Chinese are waiting for their spies to steal some military grade googles and skis so they can copy them.

Actually we (the dutch) make fun of that camouflage as well since
it includes pink (ish). But when you see it in the field it actually
works quite well. Sure there is room for improvement by moving towards a
modern digital camo with micro and macro pattern but overal it's doing
it's job right now. Also remember that a camouflage besides from
camouflaging your soldiers must also serve as a tool to tell them apart
from the enemy (in regular conflicts). Otherwise the risk of blue on
blue is high. Therefore the US Army banned the use of camouflage in the
Europe AOR in WWII for example.
Reading this the Swiss camo came to mind. It looks weird but when
I saw is in an actual forest leaves environment it was great!

Pink skies for what I assume is a combat unit?
Why white "blackout" below their eyes? Wouldn't that cause more glare than black?
With a couple seafaring US Army Chinooks tossed in for good measure!
